Glide wax recommendations
CH Layer - CH4XLF Layer - none
HF Layer - none
Fluro Layer - none
Friday update- Skied on the course around 6 PM. There is probably enough fresh snow to change kick wax to VR30.
Wednesday- I skied on the course. Basically it is a 2-3" of tilled up ice, along with some wind blown snow mixed in. Underneath and occasionally showing through, is the base of ice. We may get 0.5" of new snow on Friday and the temperatures are to remain bitter cold.
It is very important to iron in a couple layers of CH4X wax to harden the base for the very abrasive conditons. A ski with the least amount of structure is highly recommended, along with a stiffer skate ski for stability on the ice base.
Note: You must use a very hot iron (150C or 320F) to properly melt and iron in CH4X. It takes more passes (7-10) of the iron to heat up the ski base and melt in the very hard CH4X wax.
Kickwax recommendations
Strong skiers will double pole the 10k with no kick wax.Citizen skiers should iron in VG35 binder first and let cool, then apply 2-3 layers of VR30 corked smooth .
Apply an optional layer of V05 Polar for additional freeness.
