The forecast says that the snowfall will stop tonight and the temperature will fall below zero along the entire trail. Strong winds in the mountain during the night. Tomorrow it will be sunshine and the temperature will rise rapidly, but it is expected that it stays below zero from start to finish. It will be windy tomorrow, up to 10 m/s at Midtfjellet, so there will be fine grained and dry drifting snow in the track.

STRUCTURE

Stone ground skis: Medium structure. Use hand structure on stone ground skis for better glide.

Swix Structure Tool: 0.5 mm broken structure or 1.0 mm linear structure, use imprint roller and light pressure.

 

GLIDE – easy

  1. Iron in LF6X. Let cool off. Iron in once more and let cool off. Scrape off with a Swix Plexi Scraper, and brush with a Swix Bronze or Steel Brush.
  2. Finish with the Blue Nylon Polish Brush.

 

GLIDE – more experienced

  1. Iron in one layer of HF6X or DHF104 White Marathon. Let cool off. Iron in once more and let cool off. Scrape off with a Swix Plexi Scraper, and brush with a Swix Bronze or Steel Brush.
  2. Apply Cera F FC6X with an iron temperature of approx. 165°C. Make one continuous pass with the iron with a constant pressure – take one side of the groove at the time. Let cool approx. 10 min. Brush the powder away with a horsehair- or wild boar brush.
  3. Finish with the Blue Nylon Polish Brush.

 

GRIP – ca. group/pulje 101 to 12

  1. Sand (rub) the grip zone area with #100 grit silicon sandpaper.
  2. Iron in a layer of VG35 Green Base Binder. Lett cool off.
  3. Iron in a layer of V30 Blue wax. Lett cool off.
  4. Apply 2-3 layers of VR40 Blue wax. Smooth carefully out between each layer.
  5. Apply 2-4 layers of VR45 Flexi Violet wax. Smooth carefully out between each layer.

 

GRIP – ca. group/pulje 13 and later

  1. Sand (rub) the grip zone area with #100 grit silicon sandpaper.
  2. Iron in a layer of VG35 Green Base Binder. Lett cool off.
  3. Iron in a layer of V30 Blue wax. Lett cool off.
  4. Apply 2-3 layers of VR40 Blue wax. Smooth carefully out between each layer.
  5. Apply 2-4 layers of VR55N Violet wax. Smooth carefully out between each layer.

 

Adjust the grip/kick with VR55N or VR62 if the skis are slippery. Take along VR55N, VR62 and VR70 for adjustments along the way. Also remember a good scraper and cork.

 

This wax tip is based on testing done in the track and the weather forecast. It is important to consider the development of the weather continuously.

 

We will not have waxing service at the start Saturday morning, but we will have an extended information service with recommendations and guidance for the racers. We will have waxing service half way between start and Skramstadsætra, at Skramstadsætra, at Dambua, at Kvarstadsætra and at Midtfjellet.
